Аннотация:
В статье рассматривается история создания современных органов местного самоуправления в Индии, порядок их формирования и компетенция. Кроме того, автором сделан акцент на выборный аспект местных органов государственной власти и развитие избирательного процесса на местном уровне.

Abstract: The evolution of modern system of local self–governance, the competence of local bodies and process of its
formation are analyzed in the article. The author has made an accent on electoral aspect of local bodies’ formation and
evolution of electoral process on local level of state governance.
